Performance and Risk Analysis for Border Management Applications: A Model-Driven Approach and a Perspective View
Border management applications are subject to intrinsic tradeoffs between the level of immigration/security risk that the border controls can tolerate and the performance (expressed by waiting time, throughput, etc.) that users are willing to accept for the personal identification process. The design of these systems should, therefore, be guided of such tradeoffs from the very early phases of the development lifecycle. In a previous paper we have studied this tradeoff through a model-driven approach, by combining performance models and security risk models. In this paper we briefly summarize the approach, and provide a perspective view on the open issues that should be addressed in the future.
