Impacts of liming with carbocalk on winter wheat yield and quality

The field experiment with increasing rates (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 t ha-1) of carbocalk (by- product of sugar factory, 39% CaO) was conducted in autumn 2000 on Sopje stagnic albeluvisol (pH in 1N KCl = 3.42). Increasing soil pH close to neutrality resulted by considerable increases of P, Ca and Mg availabilities. By application of lime 30 t ha- 1 grain yields of wheat (2006/2007) was increased for 30% and by using 60 t ha-1 yields were decreased to level of the control. Also, grain quality parameters (protein and wet gluten contents, sedimentation and hardness) were considerably improved by liming.
