Heavy metals in agricultural soils of eastern Croatia
The analysed 143 soils in eastern Croatia are clean unpolluted soils well below limits for agriculture considering total concentrations of Pb and Cd. The higher concentrations were found in kitchen gardens, to high only in one kitchen garden for essential heavy metal Zn, but not for Pb or Cd. However, the Pb and Cd higher concentrations in kitchen garden are probably related jointly, as well as higher share of EDTA-extractable Cd and Zn in total content of urban kitchen garden than in arable land. Analysed Haplic Gleysols has highest range of Pb, Cd, and Zn, although significantly below threshold values, and Stagnosols lowest. The share of water extractable fraction of Pb, Cd and Zn in total soil concentrations can be predicted using strong exponential regression with soil pH.
