Object–oriented Approach to Power Substation Information Modeling – a Step Towards Efficient System Control

With the everlasting increase of the amount of data transferred from the process to the supervision and control centers human operators came under growing pressure to deal with those data. Very often the amount of data and its fragmentation block the clear view to the ongoing process, which can result in operator’s inappropriate actions. Object-oriented approach to the information system modeling can be of substantial help in that respect. It offers better data systematization, easier data handling and better system monitoring. The responsibility is shifted towards the control system and the operator is supplied only with the relevant process information.
