Durability of the Coated and uncoated Boards
Paper and board carriers of cultural heritage remain a very important material, both nowadays as in near and far future, because of its high permanence and durability. During the period of the last ten years the conversation of books and documents, especially those from the19th and 20th century that show signs of very quick decay in archives and libraries all over the world, represents very important activity that demands quick and effective measures. Besides the development and investigations in the field of employing new, more effective procedures of neutralization, conservation and restoration of old materials on paper, it will be necessary to ensure in the future the longest "longevity" of paper on which our written, printed, drawn cultural heritage will be kept. The basic task of customers in archives, libraries, museums and galleries including, of course, convenient governmental support, is to define the directives and recommendations for the evaluation, maintenance and protection of written cultural heritage.
