Single shaft and multi-shaft combined-cyclepower plants
Different type of combibed-cycle power plant configuration are evaluated in the article.In combined-cycle power plants (CCPP) a gas turbine and a generator are used to generate electricity and the waste heat is used to make steam which generates additional electricity through steam turbine. Combined-cycle power plants are very useful because they have high thermal efficiency, high reliability and availability and they increase system’s overall efficiency. They also contribute to more economic power generation. Combined-cycle systems are the economic choice for gas- or oil-fired power generation. Also, if gasification systems are environmentally clean, economic generation is higher. Therefore, besides high thermal efficiency and high availability and reliability, the CCPP have also additional features which contribute to their outstanding generation: low installed cost, fuel flexibility (wide range of gas and liquid fuels), low operation and maintenance cost, operating flexibility, short installation time, minimum environmental impact (low stack gas emissions and heat rejection).
