Psychological Aspects of Cyberspace
This paper shows that cyberspace has both positive and negative aspects from a psychological point of view. The positive aspects are, temporal flexibility, no limitation of space, the speed of exchanging information, social multiplicity, textual communication, recording ability, entertainment, the empowerment of human potential, equality, and the diminution of the so-called halo effect. Whereas, the negative aspects are, misinterpretations caused by a lack of sensual integration, the filtering or absorbing of information, frustration caused by technical difficulties, the redefining of identity, cyberstalking, behavioural disinhibition, and cyber addiction. Some aspects can be both positive and negative such as, anonymyty, distance learning and online psychosocial-globalization.
