Reforms of Croatian State and Public Administration System in the Process of Croatian Accession to the European Union

The author analyses current situation in Croatia concerning the status of state and public servants. According to Croatian public opinion there are too many public servants who don't work efficiently and, on the contrary to the rest of the country, they are paid very well. The article shows that in overall, Croatia doesn't have too many public servants. The fact is that in some sectors there is even a lack of public servants, but on the other hand there are some sectors which have far too many of them. The article shows that public servants are not overpaid, and that there are no over wealthy public servants, but in comparison with private sector it is true that their position is secured one, while employees in private sector are left with very little protection. Even though Croatia has entered European Union on 1st July 2013 there are still many important reforms and steps to be taken and it is a long and continuous process.
