Electrochemical Characterization of Glass-like Carbon and Graphite Electrodes: Influence of Varying Degree of Oxidation in H2SO4 Solution
Electrochemical properties of only polished and electrochemically modified glass-like carbon and graphite electrodes are followed by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. For both electrodes measured in the polarizable region of potentials, the capacitance values increased significantly. The effect is more prominent for GC electrode than for graphite surface. This can be explained by exfoliation of graphene layers from graphite surface during anodic oxidation.
