Full Ship 3D FE Structural Analysis and Optimization of 6000 TDW GENERAL CARGO VESSEL - P10-03432 BORE PROJECT
At the request of the Rolls Royce Marine AS Merchant Solutions the pre-contract optimization of the novel design of the 6000 TDW General Cargo Vessel (project named P10-03432-BORE PROJECT) in the early design phase is performed by the University of Zagreb (UZ). The following tasks were performed: 1. Development of the full ship 3D FEM MAESTRO model (structure, design loads) for structural analysis and optimization. Implementation of required load components into two FEM model variants. 2. 3D FEM response and feasibility analysis of two prototype variants for the selected design load cases. 3. Optimization of ship structure (reduction of steel weight, cost, etc.) under safety and prescribed limited deformations (deflections) constraints with scantlings (as primary design variables) and variable parameters, including web frame spacing and material zones (MS, HTS), open to the designer. 4. 3D FEM response and feasibility analysis of the optimized (preferred) structure for the selected load cases.
