AT1 receptor blockade in young healthy women on a low sodium diet significantly increase plasma levels of TXB2, a stable metabolite of TXA2 without causing significant changes in arterial blood pressure and with no effect on post- occlusion hyperemic blood flow of skin microcirculation. Such increase in plasma levels of TXB2 could not be detected in young healthy women on low sodium diet suggesting that AT1 receptor blockade may play important role in regulation of cyclooxygenase-dependent pathway of metabolism of arachidonic acid.
