Maglev between Railway and Aircraft

Maglev as a new traffic branch is a great technological step forward and a challenge to the developed countries in improving transport of passengers and goods. Acceleration, maximum speed, negotiating gradients, noise and need for space are better in Maglev than in classical high-speed trains, and the total travelling time is shorter than flying aeroplanes on shorter distances. Regarding energy consumption, vehicle capacity, infrastructure and the price of track network construction, as well as maintenance costs maglev is not competitive, and its advantages become questionable. Results published in the paper were obtained on the basis of proper calculations, technical data of the vehicle manufacturer and official reports.
