Investigation of causes of product surface contamination in production of alumina ceramics
This paper presents the results of investigating the cause of contamination in the form of brown colored stain on the surface of the alumina (Al2O3) ceramic products. Surface Contaminated ceramics surfaces were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS). The results show that, on the contaminated part, is present carbon that does not exist in the basic raw material composition. How is in the production process used emulsion (4 % oil INA-Sinter-A and 96 % water), it was assumed that the contamination formed by stated emulsions. Research results have shown that the emulsion did not cause contamination of alumina ceramic during the manufacturing process.
