The Warrior Grave from Sveta Trojica near Starigrad Paklenica
The finds of military equipment (sword, spearhead, shield boss) and pottery found at the foot of the Sveta Trojica hillfort in the vicinity of Starigrad Paklenica belong to a Roman auxiliary soldier. The bent gladius points to a Celtic origin of the deceased, thus he was not a member of the local community. The finds are dated to the first decades of the 1st cent. AD and together with some other finds show the presence of Roman army at the foot of the Velebit mountain range.
