Surgical treatment of skin and lower lip spinocellular carcinoma - a prospective study
Spinocellular carcinoma is a serious disease with the constant increase of incidence in the population. Surgical excision is the basic method of treatment, which is necessary to be done in the early phase of the disease. The aim of therapy is to excide the carcinoma without tumor tissue in the resection edges, but in the meantime to spare as much healthy tissue as possible, especially in the areas where radical excision can leave large esthetic and functional problems. In the research we have done a prospective study, where we have tried to estimate the results of surgical excision with resection edges of 10mm. The average follow up time was 12 years. We have not recorded any recidivism and esthetic and functional results were very good.
