Shearing strenght testing
Paper compares data of shearing tests of samples obtained in "Robertson Research" testing apparatus and "AMP-1" which is intended for shearing tests of "softer" rocks. "Robertson Research" testing apparatus can be used in field work, and system of power application is very simple. Main parts of "AMP-1" device are: frame, hydraulic cylinders, cylindrical bearings, and mould for sample mounting. The maximum working pressure of installed hydraulic system is 445 bars. The forces are calculated through the surface of the pressure cylinder. The measurement range is from 0-600 bars, with a class of accuracy of 0,5 and admissible tolerance of 0,2 bars. To measure the deformation of the sample we use the mechanical comperator i.e. micro gauge with sensitivity of 1/100 mm or we use a LVDT (Linear Variable Displacement Transducer) sensor. In diagram sigma-tau only the value of the cohesion is different, while the angle of inner friction is approximately the same. These resultes could be expected due to the fact that the surface of the samples in the device "AMP-1" is much bigger, and samples have not been laterally treated. We can consider the results of shear strenght tests obtained by using "Robertson Research" and "AMP-1" devices as satisfactory ones.
