Renewable energy sources (RES) not only have become a non-negligible part of electric transmission networks but also of medium and low voltage distribution networks. Understanding the overall process from design stage up to the installation stage followed by commissioning and startup of RES power plants is an essential knowledge that electric engineers should posses. Therefore at the Faculty of engineering in Rijeka, a fully operational, grid connected photovoltaic (PV) power plant with dual-axis tracking system is installed. Both students and scientists have a unique-operating tool to conduct experiments in order to deepen their knowledge and to perform research.
