Assotiation between dual staining and cervical epithelial abnoprmalities induced by HPV infection
Objectives and aim: of this study is to evaluate immunocytochemical staining method for the detection of p16 (INK4a) and Ki-67 at the conventional cervical cytology slides, investigating the association of the dual staining with HPV infection and genotyping as well as cytological abnormalities. This study showed that p16/Ki-67 immunostaining was significantly associated with hrHPV infection, particularly with HPV type 16, and the increasing grade of the cervical lesions. Hence the dual staining might have a relevant clinical role but further, extensive studies are required
