Distributed generation allocation based on average daily load and power production curves

For the last few decades the world has been witnessing a sudden increase of distributed energy resources penetrating into power systems of various countries. Since the distributed generation is in most countries stimulated by feed-in tariffs, the private sector has invested great resources into its development and research. However, a significant problem is how to regulate the inrush of distributed generation into once passive distribution power networks. In this paper the authors discuss the optimal allocation of three types of distributed generation units with a goal of minimizing cumulative average daily active power losses. Solar parks, wind farms and power stations that do not depend on an intermittent primary energy source are taken into consideration. Their power production and network loads are modeled with characteristic average daily electric production and consumption curves with discrete hour intervals. The problem was solved using genetic algorithm, and realized in Matlab programming environment.
