Preliminary Results of Human Body Average Absorption Cross Section Measurements in Reverberation Chamber
In this paper the human body absorption characteristics in terms of absorption effectiveness and absorption cross section were studied. In semi-reverberant environments such as passenger transit vehicles (planes, trains, buses and cars), elevators, factory halls, cargo-container workplaces, etc., people present the most common loading that influences the electromagnetic field (EMF) characteristics within observed volume. Therefore, it is important to characterize the human absorption in such environments in order to assess the effect of human body on the EMF distribution. The human absorption cross section, as a relevant absorption parameter, was calculated from the scattering parameters measured in a reverberation chamber loaded by a human subject. Additionally, the ACS results, calculated from the whole-body SAR found in literature and obtained by simulations, were presented.
