Influence of filler material on dynamic mechanical behaviour of open-cell metal foam

Open-cell metal foams are characterized by high energy absorption potential. In order to increase energy absorption capabilities, vacuum treated silicone filler material has been introduced to open-cell structure. Specimens are tested statically and dynamical. Plastification propagation process and collapse mechanism have been traced by means of middle-wave infrared camera.
