Intracerebellar hemorrhage caused by superwarfarin poisoning
A 40-year-old man was admitted to stroke unit because of severe pain in the neck, occipital headache, followed by vomiting, numbness in his left arm, with accompanying hematuria. Brain CT scan showed left cerebellar hematoma associated with diffuse brain edema surrounding the fourth ventricle. Routine coagulation tests revealed abnormalities. Shortly after admission neurological deficit progressed, and he developed right-sided hemiparesis and consciousness disorder. Subsequently we learned that the patient several days before admission attempted suicide by ingesting an unknown quantity of rat poison, and diagnosed superwarfarin poisoning. He was treated surgically and conservatively with high doses of vit. K, which eventually led to a complete regression of neurological deficit.
