Sažetak
In this article, authors discuss the conceptual foundations of privatization-related organizational restructuring. Namely, from the theoretical viewpoint, replacement of numerous and conflicting objectives of state-owned/public enterprises by the profit motive, should result in increased efficiency. However, the past experience has demonstrated that fiscal and distributional effects of privatization are also significant and should be analyzed, as well. The choice of financial indicators is also discussed, since the profitability in the short term does not necessarily depend solely on the business efficiency, as also on a number of choices made during the privatization process. In addition, authors follow the development of the idea of restructuring, especially its organizational aspect, which is related to management practices and organizational culture, and its association with increased productivity. This aspect of restructuring may also include specific patterns of organizational change, which can be viewed in terms of the number and structure of employees, organizational structure, production processes and the range of products. Apart from discussing the relationship between (organizational) restructuring and privatization, some conceptual patterns emerging in the stakeholder relationships are examined, as well.
