Characters in Stories by Beatrix Potter
This thesis focuses on Beatrix Potter and the characters in her stories. For the purposes of the analysis, they are divided into two categories, i.e. male and female characters. Also, the distinction is made between child and adult characters. The study shows how animal characters function in the predominantly human world and establishes the levels of anthropomorphism in the presentation of individual characters. Illustrations, as a very important element of her narratives are also analyzed. Finally, the Croatian translations of four original stories are evaluated and compared to the original texts: The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The tale of Tom Kitten, The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin.
