Flame retardant behaviour of cotton/Modacryl blends
Fabric flammability is affected by various factors such as fiber composition, fabric construction, oxygen concentration and the environmental conditions (moisture content, heat, air flow), but the effects of finishing material fabrics cannot by overlooked. FR properties of 100 % knitted cellulose materials and their blends with modacryl fibres were investigated in this paper. In order to design an optimal blending ratio different thermoanalytical methods were used. The flame behaviour and thermal stability of knitted fabric were evaluated with limited oxygen index (LOI), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), microscale combustion calorimetry (MCC) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).
