Sažetak
A hydrogen energy system is being considered for energy supply of the Dalmatian islands in Croatia. The islands have high levels of available solar insolation (1450-1600 kWh/m2/yr) and high average wind velocity (between 5.5 and 6.5 m/s). Natural gas is not yet available, but there are plans for connection on the Croatian natural gas supply system or LPG and/or LNG supply. Hydrogen technologies, particularly fuel cells would be compatible even with natural gas as a main or supplemental energy source. Utilization of available renewable energy sources, coupled with hydrogen energy is fully compatible with main economic activities on the island - tourism and agriculture, and will be the basis for sustainable development of the islands.
