Sažetak
The v ehicle brake tester described in this paper is placed in the Laboratory for IC Engines and Motor Vehicles at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb. The d evice built in 1983 w as inoperative. A d ecision was made to go for modernization rather than repair. Modernization included a reconstruction of some parts and a completely changed method of braking force measurement. Monitoring and regulation changes were made on electronic co mponents that control the roller set during manual and automatic operation. To achieve the main goal, an automatized test procedure, a full study of Brekon2/3 " T132M4 TROP - Elektrokovina Maribor " and its documentation was done. The roller set was analysed and control units upgraded. New electronic equipment for control was acquired, studied , installed and adjusted. Using LabVIEW programming software, a computer program for monitoring the position of the vehicle on the device, the measuring of vehicle mass needed for the calculation of brak ing coefficient, the control of operating mode (automatic or manual) and the start/stop of electro motors inside the device was made .
