Extensions to UML for ORB-centric Software Modeling: The Group and Policy Stereotypes
Modeling of applications that rely on various kinds of Object Request Broker (ORB) services require an adequate approach. At the conceptual level, the applications may have some special characteristics. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a very expressive graphical language for visualising, specifying, constructing and documenting the artefact of a software-intensive system. However, some concepts intrinsic for distribution and distributed ORB-centric software are not directly supported by UML. In the paper we propose a modeling approach which presumes usage of the UML language with adequate extensions (stereotypes). Syntax and semantic of two such stereotypes: "group" and "policy" are defined.
