Characteristics of the Krka River based on assessment of data obtained from regular water monitoring
The paper analyses hydrological characteristics and characteristics of water quality of the Krka River, and the assessments of the growth dynamics of tufa barriers. The results show that the analysed area is characterised by unfavourable hydrological trends of decreasing average annual and minimum inflows. There are also trends of increasing average and maximum water temperatures, as well as of decreasing minimum annual water temperatures, whereas the concentrations of the selected water quality parameters mostly have a decreasing trend. In terms of the tufa barrier growth rate, it amounts to 16 cm/100 years for the most famous tufa barrier, Skradinski buk.
