Interconnecting Distributed Discrete Event Simulation System by Using RPC Protocol
Discrete event systems are often used as models of communication networks and computer systems at the traffic level. Simulations of such systems are slow to run for statistical reasons. An obvious way to obtain a faster simulation is to decompose it and providing it with more resources. In this paper, an approach for interconnecting simulation support tasks assigned to different processors using RPC (Remote Procedure Call) protocol is proposed. An example of simulation together with obtained times, speedup and efficiency is presented. It is emphasized that a significant simulation speedup in the case of time consuming simulation support tasks is possible.
