Sažetak
The purpose of this research is to compare the usage and perception of a social network - Facebook and a learning management system - Moodle by students in higher education. The research was conducted at the University of Zadar, Department of Information Sciences and the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer, Department of Information Science. Methods involve conducting questionnaires and focus groups, and the sample consists of students from these departments. Research questions 1. How and for what education purposes students/teachers use Facebook and Moodle? 2. Which of the following systems are preferred by the students and why? 3. What are the differences in usage and perception of Facebook and Moodle by students? Results show that students prefer Moodle for educational purposes: sharing educational materials, papers upload, homework and communication with teachers. They use Facebook primarily for private purposes, but also for connecting with colleagues and sharing information. They would not mind getting notifications about education on their Facebook accounts.
