Visual Identification Of Human Kinematics Using Markers
Until today various commercial systems for visual identification of human kinematics have been developed, like VICON’s Workstation, Ariel system and others. The principal problem lies in the complicated structure and variable pose of the human body resulting in an often self-occlusion of particular segments. Visual identification using markers placed on crucial points of the body (like joints) for the specific motion observed is a matter of many actual investigations. Tracking of markers is still a problem because of the occlusion of markers and noise introduced by capturing video sequences of motion. In this paper we describe usage of a low-cost system that reduces selfocclusion and other errors in visual identification of human kinematics using markers. There is also a brief description of the software “Marker Tracking“, realized as the central part of this system.
