A 7 year old Simental dairy cow presented with a history of weight loss, anorexia and decreased milk production. Previous antibiotic therapy included oxytetracycline and peniciline. Clinical signs observed included anorexia, pyrexia, abdominal pain and weight loss. Following a failure to respond to treatment, prescribed by the referring veterinarian the cow was referred to Veterinary faculty, Zagreb with suspected reticuloperitonitis. The day after the cow died and a post-mortem examination carried out. The aim of this study was to introduce splenic abscess in cattle as less common complication of traumatic reticulitis.
