Structural Analysis in Shipbuilding Production Process
The paper concerns the use of structural analysis in the shipbuilding technology. The development of software and computers enables its use in all stages of the production process. Application of the state-of-the-art program packages enables user to reach meritorious results, which lead to easier decision-making in the production stage. Advancement in program packages resulted in them being user-friendly ; the users need not involve in programming, coding and testing of programs. Instead, they may focus on modeling, experiments with model and analysis of results. Once the computer model is done it could be used for many numerical experiments and the necessary changes of the model are easily generated and analyzed. The problems related to early outfitting is analyzed using finite element method. Structural analysis is performed to determine behavior of the structure during outfitting at the ground and later on during lifting the outfitted block for the assembly in the ship superstructure. Deformations and stresses will be evaluated and critical issues detected. As a result, feasibility of the early outfitting will be evaluated and commented.
