Laparoscopic extirpation of cervical endometriosis in 28-year patient with persistent dyspareunia.
Cervical endometriosis is usually an incidental finding on histopathology reports and has been reported rarely. A 28- year old women (nulipara) was referred to our clinic due to persistent coital pain. Speculum examination revealed normal cervix and vagina. Vaginal examination found supracervical tender, firm mass just above and left to the cervix, size of the tumb. Uterus was normal-sized, anteverted, mobile and non-tender on palpation. Transvaginal ultrasonography revealed the cystic lesion 16x15 mm in the left upper part of the cervix, 26 mm cranial from the cervical opening communicating with the cervical channel. Laparoscopy revealed normal finding inside the pelvis. Left retroperitoneal pouch was opened just under the left scrouterine lig and the left ureter was presented. The endometriotic nodule was found along the left edge of the cervix communicating with the cervical canal. The node was completely removed and the histologic finding was cervical endometriosis. The patient was symptom free at the 10-months follow up.
