Combining QEXAFS and Total Electron-Yield Detection for Temperature-Programmed In-Situ Studies: Fe K-edge Investigations of Au/Fe3O4- Catalysts
Combination of QEXAFS with Total Electron-Yield Detection was used to investigate phase transformation of magnetite, used as a gold support in CO oxidation, during calcination in a stream of 20% O2 / 80% He at 1 atm. Clear indications for the phase transformation to haematite were visible at temperatures above 750 K. Evidence for magnetite transformation to maghemite, at temperatures between 500 K and 750 K, was confirmed by EXAFS data.
