Automatic enlarge and deployment of computer cluster using dual-boot approach
The paper presents an innovative and simple way to introduce and demonstrate computer clustering concepts, at no cost, by constructing a high performance cluster in the classroom using existing computers in the classroom, Ethernet facilities, and open source software. Automatic empowering (extension) of the cluster of computers is a cost-effective way to increase computing power. It represents forming of the cluster of computers enabled by consistent underutilization of perspective nodes. The main objective of this paper is to present solutions that will utilize existing resources in the computer room for the running complex computer jobs under the Linux operating system. Execute job programs that require large computing resources in the form of computer clusters is carried out at the time when the classroom don’t using for education under the Windows operating system. A real-life example of an implementation of computers in dual-boot Windows /Linux mode along with in-house developed software support is presented. The implementation also includes logistics and support for automatic clustering of computers and job execution. The results of the performed principle are presented.
