Useful Vegetation of Urban Green Areas to Preserve Bio-Diversity
The planning and cultivating of urban green areas closely follows modern development of city landscapes. Besides its decorative, sanitary, salvaging, psychological, educational and other purposes that it has to satisfy, it is very important to point out the ecological purpose of urban green areas. In the natural habitats of vegetation and animal world, the self-regulation of valuable and pest populations is not threatened. Contrary to the natural habitats, urban areas influenced by rapid industrialization and housing development, unfortunately often offer very adverse conditions to ruin this natural balance in favor of the pest populations of plants and animals. The efforts to preserve the natural balance of vegetation and animal populations in urban areas, by creating green spaces of city parks, grassy lawns, subdivision grasslands, and gardens on the lots also have to ensure a year-round habitats for valuable insects which attracts the presence of birds and small animals. Even though most of the vegetation types can ensure natural habitats for small animals, some plant species offer better advantage.
