Sažetak
This paper examines the values of education in relation to the top-priority values of the society and the global ideology. Discussions on educational values in the context of globalization frequently show a tendency towards balancing between education as an instrumental and education as a terminal value. Thoughts on educational value reforms have been going in the following directions: from the utilitarian towards liberal and "open" education". By reducing education to "the education industry", with the economic profitability and social cohesion as its major goals, we neglect basic human values. Presumed answers to the current issues are: non-ideologized conceptualization of educational values, permanent monitoring of different approaches and solutions in the practice and engaging all the interested or concerned parties in the dialogue.
