Perception of The Medieval Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia: Examples from Croatian Renaissance and Early Modern Historiography
Taking into account political and historical circumstances in Central and South-eastern Europe during the Middle Ages, which were largerly determined by the influence of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia, The Venetian Republic and The Ottoman Empire, this paper is particularly focused on the image of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia in the works of few most prominent Croatian Renaissance and early modern historiographers: Ludovik Crijević Tuberon (Commentarii de temporibus suis), Mavro Orbini (Il regno de gli Slavi), Dinko Zavorović (De rebus Dalmaticis), Juraj Rattkay (Memoria regum et banorum, regnorum Dalmatiae, Croatiae et Sclavoniae) and Ivan Lučić (De Regno Dalmatiae et Croatiae libri sex).
