CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE
Conflict can arise in organizations and systems due to differing interests (personal and work-related), differing goals, ways of performing business activities, value judgements, priorities, perceptions of reality, cultural backgrounds, psychosocial and other features of participants. The paper looks into different aspects of conflict, starting with identifying conflicts by frequency and participants. The causes and consequences will be explained, together with ways and strategies for resolving conflict. The study was carried out in eight primary health care institutions in the Republic of Croatia, on the sample consisting of 185 respondents. It was based on a survey, i.e. a questionnaire with 28 complex questions on different aspects of conflict. In particular, the paper examines the managerial aspects of conflict and differences between managerial levels related to causes, consequences, attitudes and conflict-resolving strategies.
