Impact of pneumatics on vehicle stopping distance

Pneumatics as an active element of the vehicles safety is one of the most important factors responsible for the stability of the vehicle. It is known that, incorrect pneumatics can significantly reduce the safety of traffic users especially when pneumatics that is used are not appropriate with meteorological conditions. Pneumatic manufacturers have brought the production of tires to the highest level. Regardless the technology development is necessary to constantly conduct scientific testing of pneumatics in order to get a clear insight on the impact of pneumatics on the vehicle stopping distance. Previous studies usually are conducted for the purposes of journalism in times when the actual purchase and replacement summer pneumatics for winter. However, such studies are not relevant for scientific purposes because it is not possible to find enough information about all the conditions in which research is conducted. This paper will show the results of the vehicle stopping distance of winter and summer tires on different surfaces under different meteorological conditions and the results of testing different combinations of pneumatics on one vehicle. The results will be compared with previous results of the tests and the possible tendency of improving traffic safety will be produced
