Correlation of the infections of the genital tract of women and their lifestyle with the frequency of micronuclei
The level of cytogenetic damage of the vaginal epithelial cells in 197 women with the symptoms of genital infections was assessed by micronucleus test. Number of micronuclei (MN) per 1000 cells ranged from 0 to 22 with the median value of 6 MN. A good, statistically signifi cant correlation between predictor variables connected to the lifestyle and the frequency of micronuclei was observed. Positive correlation was also determined between the frequency of MN and the results of Pap tests and cervical swabs.
lifestyle, environmental and medical exposure, micronucleus assay, vaginal epithelial cells, bacterial infection, viral infection, yeast infection
