COMPARATION OF LABORATORY AND “IN SITU”TESTING OF THE EMULSION AND ANFO EXPLOSIVES BLASTING EFFICIENCY

Experiments were carried out in the laboratory utilising charge made of emulsion and ANFO explosives. This work is a discussion on the impact of blasting style, the type of explosive and the energy of ignition on the efficiency of blasting. “In situ” experiments were carried out on the construction-sites and quarries. Testing the efficiencies of emulsion and ANFO explosives there has been applied the original method for linear enlargement of burden. The trial blasting has been carried out under real conditions whereas the physical-mechanical rock features, geological conditions, bed and rock structure influence the blast efficiences. Significant results have been achieved in decreasing expenses of exploitation of mineral deposits by wide use of emulsion explosives and ANFO explosives. These types of explosives have become very popular because of simple and safe handling, but in practice are very often cases of unsuccessful blasting, especially with use of ANFO explosives. From the same reason, tests in laboratory were carried out to determine impact of energy of ignition, temperature and way of ignition in relation to efficiency of blasting. As parameter of evaluation of blasting results, velocity of detonation of explosive has been taken. Velocity was measuring on interval and continuous way. Achieved energy of detonation was measured with relative deformation of steel pipes.
