GIS of Seismic Monitoring during Blasting Building Pit of WTC at Rijeka
Careful blasting technique during exavation of building pit of World Trade Center at main harbour of Croatia Rijeka, was carried out. The pit was surrounded by residential buldings, railway-track and traffic routes. The maximum allowed quantity of explosive charge per stage of ignition regarding endangered objects was calculeted on the basis of trial blasting. Drilling patern and blasting magnitutde were designed on the basis of measured peak particle velocity og ground oscilation and distance of endangered objects in relation to blasting field. During blasting performance permanent seismic monitoring was carried out. GIS of the WTCs construction pit is computer-based and solved by using three packages: MicroStation 95, MicroStation Field 1.1.and MicroStation FieldForms. For obtaining all wanted pieces of information from our grafical and nongrafical database we use built-in grafical and nongrafical queries inside application Field.
