Crater Detection Algorithms: A Contribution During Work on Crater Catalogues.
A crater detection algorithm (CDA) has been developed for crater detection from digital topography data using gradient value/orientation, morphometry, votes-analysis, slip-tuning and calibration and it has been further improved using a crater shape-based interpolation. During the work on some of the currently most complete catalogues of Mars (MA132843GT with 132843 craters), the Moon (LU64215GT with 64215 craters) and Phobos (PH1102GT with 1102 craters), the CDA has been used to identify numerous previously uncatalogued craters and extended the catalogues with them. The CDA also successfully detects craters from Venus and Earth topography data.
