New Materials for Thermoelectric Applications: Theory and Experiment
There is a growing realization of the important role thermoelectric devices could play in making efficient use of our energy resources, from recycling waste heat into electrical energy to refrigeration without the use of environmentally damaging fluids. Thermoelectric devices have been in limited use for many years but their efficiency needs to be increased for wide scale applications. There has been a renewed impetus to find and engineer materials with an enhanced thermoelectric responses for use in such devices. This volume covers the latest ideas and developments in this multidisciplinary research field, covering topics ranging from the fabrication and characterization of new materials, particularly those with strong electron correlation, use of nanostructured, layered materials and composites, though to theoretical work to gain a deeper understanding of thermoelectric behavior. It should be a useful guide and stimulus to all working in this very topical field.
