A comparative survey of trophy value in prehistorical and recent deer
The osteometric processing on the 86 hunting exhibits of the Red-deer 1 till 15 year old showed a link between the expanse of frontal bone in the orbite area and range of horns. The link was used in processing of the bone's samples of the deer from Eneolithic period (2800 years B.C.) from the Vučedol archaeological site in Estern Slavonia to estimate and survey of trophy value. Bone samples were processed by Duerst (1927) and Driesch (1976). The measured values of the Red-deer were compared with the results of mesurements for the "Vučedol-deer" and they show the trophy magnificence of the prehistorical deer.
