Shaping of an eco-tourist product on traditional bases of living of rural Istria

Abstract: In this paper, the possibilities of shaping an eco-tourist product on the example of the traditional bases of rural Istria living have been researched. The purpose and goals of the research in this paper are the detection of the traditional bases of life, followed by divising a model of how to include it into an eco-tourist product. A hypothesis by which it is claimed that, on the principles of traditional bases of living, an eco-tourist product can be shaped, is set in relation to the quoted goals. The proof of the hypothesis will be conducted on the example of the rural tourist destination of Istria. By application of secondary sources from the research carried out so far (interviews of inhabitants of Istria aged 60 and over), traditional bases of living will be detected and, from the survey of tourists in Istria, the conclusion will be made whether the traditional ways of life are interesting for tourists and in what measure they perceive them.
