On the Use of the Present Perfect in the EFL Classroom
This paper examines the use of the Present Perfect in the interlanguage of 109 Croatian elementary school pupils (eighth grade). The aim of this paper is to determine the appropriate use, overuse and underuse of the Present Perfect in both oral and written learner production in the English as a foreign language classroom. Analyses of the transcripts of classroom dialogue followed by the gap filling type of test provide insight into the use of the Present Perfect. Possible implications for the teaching practice are also given in the final part of the paper.
